The economy is surely having an impact on everything, and that apparently includes sales of my award winning children's book. Even if I offer as much as a 15% discount for it on my e-store apparent is not a big enough stimilus to garner any sales. I just I have to find new venues in which to get people to know more about me, my children's book, or opportunities to communicate my experience in writing children's literature. And by some coincidence, this Thursday, I'll be speaking about this topic at the College of Staten Island in NYC @ 4:40.
In trying to get speaking engagements such as these, an author needs to network with people, reach out to the media, or as in my case be in communication with someone you had gone to school years ago.
In order to prepare for this, I basically had to organize my writing experience in writing which lead up to and then included my book.
Naturally, I'll be bringing presigned copies of my book to sell once the class is over. As authors we should always be prepared to sell over book to someone on an individual basis.
